C.J. McCollum was stuck in the airport with two and a half hours to kill after a recent flight was delayed. In an effort to pass the time, the Portland Trail Blazers guard jumped on Twitter and answered questions from fans.
One of the first questions he answered was “Who would you like to see the Blazers go after this off season? Draft & free agency.” All he replied with was @Yg_Trece, Paul George’s handle.

How serious was he about that tweet? Rachel Nichols asked him just that on her ESPN show, The Jump.
“I’m in LA right now. Kidding. That was a joke,” he said as those on set laughed. “I haven’t seen PG since I’ve been out here. I haven’t hit him up. He’s seen the (tweet).”
McCollum touched on it again in a podcast with Taylor Rooks of SportsNet New York.
“He gives you that star power,” he said of George (via Blazer’s Edge). “You’re in the Western Conference. Obviously there’s a lot of very good teams. A lot of teams that are deep. A lot of teams that have three, four horsemen. Some teams have five. And you have to be able to match them blow for blow.
“It takes a lot more than one good player, two good players, three good players. You need to have a collective unit. Obviously, Paul George would help any team in the NBA.”
By the way, George, a four-time All-Star, is still under contract with the Pacers for another two years with the final year being a player option.

The Trail Blazers (41-41) are led by their duo of Damian Lillard and McCollum, the second-leading scorer for Portland, who averaged 22.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in his fourth season as a pro.
