Miles proposed to his bride, Lauren Smith, while vacationing in Cancun, Mexico during the 2015 NBA All-Star break.
“She cried. I was on my knee. The ground was hard. I asked her to say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ so I could get up,” Miles joked a few days afterwards.

The Dallas, Texas native did not attend college, well, because he didn’t have to. He was part of the last NBA Draft class — 2005 — that could enter the league straight out of high school. He was the 34th overall selection, selected by the Utah Jazz.
Smith, meanwhile, attended and played basketball at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. She was born in New Jersey but grew up in Schertz, Texas.
The two were introduced was by Miles’ best friend “since like second grade.” C.J. visited this friend, who worked at Corpus Christi with the basketball team during one offseason and he introduced the two.
So Miles was playing in Utah, where Smith’s best friend already lived. So one time when visiting her friend, she sent him a note “through for Facebook or something,” Miles explained, “and then we kind of kept it touch after that.”
