Hoosiers seek elusive win over No. 1 Kentucky

It’s finally here, Indiana hosts top-ranked Kentucky to Assembly Hall for IU’s most anticipated non-conference game. With the whole nation watching at 5:15 pm EST on ESPN (Dan Shulman, Dick Vitale), it’s the Hoosiers time to show they’re back.

And that’s important for Coach Tom Crean, the program, and IU faithful.

What the Hoosiers have gone through for the last three years has been harped …

Coach John Calipari on Indiana

Indiana and Kentucky has always been a heated basketball rivalry. I much prefer the two playing on a neutral court but on Saturday, the undefeated Hoosiers host the top-ranked Wildcats to Assembly for a sold-out showdown.

This game is probably the most anticipated game in Assembly Hall since the Hoosiers hosted Duke in 2005. It will definitely be the loudest. Tickets were hot on Stubhub.com …

IU students: shut up and show up

The Indiana basketball program has been through an awful lot in the last four years. In 2008-09, when a new coaching regime came in, nobody had any idea how difficult the process was going to be. Now 8-0 and off to a spectacular start, the IU students have yet to fill the student section. And when asked about it, all they do is complain.

Hoosiers rally to beat NC State 86-75

After coasting through their first five games, Indiana has been challenged by Butler and NC State. For their first Big Ten/ACC Challenge win in the Tom Crean era, IU finished strong at NC State winning 86-75.

“It was a hard-fought victory that every one of those young men deserved, they earned, and it’s something for them to build on,” Coach Tom Crean said postgame.

Sheehey’s play off the bench helps IU sink Butler 75-59

It was a good ole’ fashion Indiana basketball game Sunday night in Assembly Hall. The Butler Bulldogs traveled south to Bloomington for a much anticipated in-state clash. After a defensive battle in the first half, Indiana (6-0) rolled in the second to remain undefeated, beating the Bulldogs (3-3) 75-59.

For Indiana, this was their first real challenge of the year. IU may have felt pressured …

Finally healthy, Derek Elston effective at both ends of the floor

After five games, junior Derek Elston is off to his best season at Indiana. The 6-9 forward from Tipton, Indiana is 100-percent this year and once again enjoying the game he loves.

Last season he played through a couple of injuries and never seemed comfortable. After the 2010-11 season, he had sports hernia surgery on May 26th. Now playing at full strength, all he can …

A closer look at the controversial Indiana-Purdue possession call

After an efficient first quarter, the Hoosiers struggled offensively until the final quarter.

With eleven minutes to go, Indiana scored and converted on a two-point conversion to cut the Purdue lead to eight. One score.

On Indiana’s next series, the first officiating mistake came on the punt where a Purdue player was laying in the end zone and tried to down the ball at the …
