Conseco Fieldhouse now Bankers Life Fieldhouse

The home of the Indiana Pacers now has a new name. CNO Financial Group (formerly known as Conseco) has opted to rename Conseco Fieldhouse, now Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The change comes a couple years after Conseco went through bankruptcy and changed their company name for a new image.

The Fieldhouse, which cost Indianapolis about $183 million, opened in November of 1999 and has hosted dozens …

Coach Tom Crean and Mike Brey on the Crossroads Classic

Four in-state programs come together for the Close the Gap Crossroads Classic on Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse. Butler, Purdue, Indiana and Notre Dame. Two games, four local schools. In Indiana, a basketball crazy state, it makes perfect sense.

This isn’t a new idea by any means, just a reboot of an old classic, the Hoosier Classic. Led by the athletic directors of these four schools, …

Indy’s Big Ten football championship general admission tickets sell-out in two hours

I don’t think there was any question whether the inaugural Big Ten title game would be a hot attraction.

With the addition of Nebraska this year, the conference now has enough schools for a title game. Before, the active week in college football had always been gray and quiet on the Big Ten front.

For at least the next five years, Lucas Oil Stadium in …

Hello, Brickyard 400….anyone?

In case you didn’t know, and you probably didn’t, the Brickyard 400 is this weekend in Indianapolis. The annual spectacle use to be a strong event, maybe the second biggest race of the year behind Daytona for NASCAR, now is a few years from meaningless.

NASCAR has had it’s problems over the years at the Brickyard with the tire fiasco being the most prominent. I …
