Video: Downtown Indianapolis and Conseco Fieldhouse welcoming to the Big Ten Tournament

Friday between Big Ten Tournament sessions, I walked around downtown Indianapolis and recorded the city atmosphere. There’s not a better venue in the United States and not another city more welcoming to the tournament.

Even the media need a little fun at the Big Ten Tournament

Last night was the fourth annual Big Ten Network party and I came away impressed. Every year since the network’s existed, they have put on a party for Big Ten Tournament media members. The event was held Thursday evening at the Cadillac Ranch at Union Station downtown Indianapolis.

I was very late getting to the event because of the 7:30 p.m. tip of Penn State …

Big Ten Men’s Tournament begins at Conseco Fieldhouse

Conseco Fieldhouse is all too familiar for me. After working here four days last week, I embark on another four straight days and five of six (counting Pacers-Sixers on Tuesday).

With the men in town, it’s a completely differently tournament with a thrilling feel. Three networks will split the broadcasting duties for the four days: the Big Ten Network, ESPN and CBS.

I had a conflict and was unable to attend the first day. Didn’t miss much on the …

Last week it was the NFL combine. This week it’s the women’s Big Ten basketball tournament and next week the men’s. Then two weeks later, the women’s Final Four comes to town. Week after week this city is hosting some event bringing exposure and dollars to Indy.

Events like these are what help make Indiana so special. After all, “in 49 states it’s just basketball. …

Peter King gives Indianapolis high marks

Indianapolis has been the consistent host for the NFL’s scouting combine since 1987, allowing teams to evaluate college player’s talent on the field and personality traits.

Because of this years Super Bowl was a disaster in Dallas, media and team personnel agree—Indy will do an exceptional job hosting Super Bowl XLVI, assuming there is a collective bargaining agreement in place.

Sports Illustrated’s Peter King had …
