Darren Collison having his best season as a pro, but trying to keep 50-40-90 off his mind

Statistically, Darren Collison is having the best season of his professional career. His shooting numbers have never been better, his assists per game (5.3) lead the team while his turnovers are the lowest they’ve been (1.3) in his nine years.

And, until finally having surgery on Feb. 6, he did most of his damage while less than 100 percent.

Collison has dealt with soreness in …

Joe Young, Pacers, Nate McMillan, Myles Turner

A lot happens each week with the Pacers and it’s not easy to stay on top of it. Pacers Last Week keeps you updated on everything going on with the franchise.

Forward Trevor Booker finally practiced with the team and made his first appearance Wednesday in a home loss to Utah, where he played from 2014-16. Darren Collison returned on March 9, just over four…

Pacers third in the East with 15 games to play

Sunday night’s slate of NBA games played out nicely for the Indiana Pacers. A Pacers win in Boston combined with a Cavaliers loss to the Lakers has moved Indiana into third place in the Eastern Conference for the first time this season.

The Pacers, who have won nine of their last 12 games and two in a row, are a half game in front of …

Running thoughts: Pacers 99, Celtics 97

Here are my running thoughts from the Pacers’ 99-97 win over the Boston Celtics Sunday night at TD Garden

Alex Poythress was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the G League before the Pacers boarded their flight to Boston on Saturday. The Pacers wore their (white) Hickory uniforms — and they are beautiful — so the Celtics were in all black. Boston was…

Monty McCutchen visits Pacers for meeting on the relationship between team and officials

The Pacers had their Respect For The Game meeting with Monty McCutchen Friday before hosting the Atlanta Hawks to Bankers Life Fieldhouse. McCutchen was a longtime NBA official who transitioned into a new role with the league as the vice president and head of referee development and training one year ago.

McCutchen — and sometimes officials for that night’s game — is traveling around to …

Ep. 77: David Benner, Director of Media Relations

David Benner is in his 24th season as the Director of Media Relations for the Indiana Pacers. He’s the primary contact between the media and the team.

Benner, however, has been both sides. He spent 16 years as a writer for the Indianapolis Star, including eight years covering the Pacers. He moved over to his present role with the team in 1994, replacing Dale Ratermann. …

Running thoughts: Jazz 104, Pacers 84

Here are my running thoughts from the Pacers’ 104-84 loss to the Utah Jazz Wednesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell received a loud applause during team introductions. Plenty of red in the building — Louisville fans making the two-hour drive north to see Mitchell, who played two seasons for the Cardinals. Pacers owner Herb Simon was in his usual seat adjacent…

Lance Stephenson assessed a flagrant foul for tripping Milwaukee’s John Henson

Lance Stephenson has been issued a Flagrant-1 foul for tripping Milwaukee Bucks center John Henson in Monday’s win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Nothing was assessed during the game, but cameras clearly captured Stephenson sticking out his left foot to trip Henson with 5:10 to play in the Pacers’ 92-89 win. A flagrant was handed out Wednesday afternoon after review by the league office.

“It was …
