Indiana basketball was a highlight of national news program over the weekend. A CBS crew — national, not local — traveled to Indianapolis to document a big day for the 1954 Milan High School basketball team.

CBS’ Mark Albert was recently at Plumps Last Shot, Bobby Plumps great restaurant in Broad Ripple, as the Championship team reunited to sign autographs in the afternoon of March 15th.

By night, they were all at Bankers Life Fieldhouse to be honored by the Pacers on one of their six Hickory-theme nights of the season.

This team is special not only because it beat a school 10 times its size for a high school title, but also because it is the basis for the movie Hoosiers, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. In connection with MGM Studios, the Pacers have Hickory uniforms that they will wear in 10 games this season.
