Free agent point guard Darren Collison is officially back with the Pacers, signing his latest contract, a two-year deal, on Friday.
“Having had Darren here in the past, we obviously knew what we were getting, both on the floor and in the locker room,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard. “When you bring in a player like Darren, you know you’re not only getting a point guard, you’re adding a veteran presence to your team.”
Entering his ninth season as a pro, Collison signed a two-year, $20 million contract with a year-plus fully guaranteed, according to league sources.
Collison, who turns 30 in August, spent the last three seasons with the Sacramento Kings. He averaged 13.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game — starting in 63 of 68 games played last season.
Collison will once again be No. 2 after wearing 7 while with the Kings.
