Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade was spotted in Bloomington Friday afternoon, visiting with his college coach. The Heat are down 2-1 to the Pacers in the second-round of the NBA playoffs.
Other than treatment and a short film session, the Heat took Friday off, allowing him to reach out to a man that is a father-figure. Wade headed south to Bloomington to visit with Tom Crean, his coach at Marquette. While in town, they rode around campus in a golf cart and checked out team facilities.
(In the photo right, Wade poses for a picture with a fan while in the golf cart. Coach Steve McClain caught smiling in the picture as well.)
It shouldn’t come as any surprise to Hoosier fans that Wade was down visiting his old coach. He has been photographed working out in IU shorts, and has recorded videos for coach. Whenever Crean’s schedule allows, he makes it a point to go up to Indy and watch his former players. (I’d expect him to be there on Sunday for game four.)
The two remained very close after Wade was drafted fifth overall in the 2003 NBA Draft. He led Marquette to a 2003 Final Four run that ended badly, a blowout loss to Kansas.
Wade finds comfort in Crean and will hope to get back on track after a dismal series to this point. He went scoreless in the first half of Thursday’s loss, a first for Wade in 95 career playoff games.
The Heat and Pacers meet again Sunday in game four of the series.

Crean counseling Wade right in the heart of Pacer land during the playoffs. That’s kinda like your mother-in-law going over a cliff in your new Cady!
An IU grad who loves IU basketball and also starting to love Larry Legends Pacers again.
My coach helping the enemy!
Very mixed emotions 🙁
Not me….Wade being around Crean and the IU program is nothing but good for IU. I love the Pacers, don’t get me wrong, but IU is what really matters to me, and Wade being around our program is a good thing.
