George Hill had a heated moment with Kobe Bryant during his rookie season in San Antonio.

Players around the NBA and other professional athletes alike have been taking to social media Wednesday to shout out and to thank Kobe Bryant, who’s final game is tonight in Los Angeles.

Paul George plans to wear special Mamba Day shoes to honor Kobe, just as so many Nike athletes are doing.

Pacers guard George Hill faced Kobe four times a year during his first three seasons in the league while playing for San Antonio. The Indianapolis native posted a photo on Instagram Wednesday afternoon with the following message attached:

“Cant say thanks enough for what you meant to this league and me as a player…. coming in as rookie coach pop threw me in the fire early with the job of trying to slow you down…def wasnt easy at all. By far one of the toughest jobs i had in basketball, but with the battles you taught me alot and im thankful to have been apart of your legacy in this sport…..Thanks Mamba For One Hell Of A Career…..”

George Hill remembers his heated moment with Kobe … during his rookie season.

“It was me coming in as a rookie and not taking anything from anybody,” Hill recalled before their last meeting. “I was trying to find my way and try to be a tough defender out there and tempers got a little flared. It is what it is. It was no disrespect; it was all a part of the game.”

Monta Ellis spent his first seven seasons about six hours north in Oakland playing for the Golden State Warriors.

Glenn Robinson III, born in Gary, Indiana, also posted a photo with Kobe:

Even the Pacers’ 2015 first-round pick joined in. He was born in March, 1996. Kobe was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, and then moved to the Lakers, just a few months later.
