Quick: Who has been the most accurate 3-point shooter in the Pacers in the first eight games?
Chase Budinger? Nope.Paul George? Nope.
Oh, C.J. Miles? Nope.
George Hill, who is a more natural shooting guard than a point guard. (Miles is second at 38.7 percent.)
Hill has shot 46.7 percent from range. In fact, Hill has scored 49.6 percent of his points this season from beyond the arc, where he’s made 21-of-45 attempts.
(He’s also done a great job of taking care of the ball, going without a turnover in four of the last five games, including three straight.)
Hill spent much of the offseason down in San Antonio and working on his outside shot. I asked him after Monday’s win over Orlando, when he made 4-of-6 of his attempts from downtown, why he’s so comfortable in the left corner — his sweet spot. He’s 9-for-12 there.
“I tried to come back as a laser knowing that Paul’s coming back and we have Monta coming in, that there’s going to be a lot of shots off of their penetration,” he said. “I told myself this summer … be that guy that they can count on.”
So, did he purchase that real estate?.
“I bought the whole 3-point line,” he said with a grin.
