Indiana Hoosiers’ sophomore forward De’Ron Davis has undergone surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg and will be sidelined for the balance of the 2017-18 basketball season, the team announced on Wednesday.
Head Coach Archie Miller addressed the media prior to the team’s game against University of Minnesota late last week and said Davis suffered a non-contact injury in practice and would be out “indefinitely.”

Davis had started all 15 games of the season for the Indiana men’s basketball team pre-injury, and posted per-game averages of 18.8 minutes, 9.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. All those numbers are career highs.
Davis was the 2017 off-season recipient of the championship belt for IU’s strength and conditioning challenge, given to the player who achieves the best results. The 6-10 Davis lost over 20 pounds and added eight inches to his vertical leap, among other accomplishments.
