The Indiana women’s basketball program has had three straight losing seasons, including a 6-24 record this year.
Time for a change.
Out goes Felisha Legette-Jack after six years. In comes Curt Miller, after 11 seasons at Bowling Green State University. Indiana University Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass will introduce Coach Miller at a 4 p.m. news conference.
A couple notes on what Miller has accomplished:
- 258-92 in 11 seasons at BGSU
- After just nine and 12 wins in his first two years, he has since won at least 21 games in all nine years since.
- Won at least 13 Mid-American Conference (MAC) games for each of the last eight seasons. They only play 16 league games.
- Eight consecutive postseason appearances.
- Six-time MAC Coach of the Year, four-time Russell Athletic/WBCA Region 4 Coach of the Year.
The reaction to the hiring has been all positives. I have received two texts from coaches who praise what Miller has done and will bring to Bloomington. And below are two quality opinions, via twitter.
Indiana Fever head coach Lin Dunn: ” if IU is hiring Curt Miller..then they are sending message they are SERIOUS about women’s basketball!”
Former BGSU men’s coach, now ESPN analyst Dan Dakich: “IU is hiring a GREAT basketball coach in Curt Miller.. along with Urban Meyer.. he’s the best coach I’ve been around”
More Dakich: “Congrats to Fred Glass..he went out and hired the BEST…now if they had just listened to me bout Urban Meyer a few years ago…”
