Indianapolis onto another week of hosting big events

Last week it was the NFL combine. This week it’s the women’s Big Ten basketball tournament and next week the men’s. Then two weeks later, the women’s Final Four comes to town. Week after week this city is hosting some event bringing exposure and dollars to Indy.

Events like these are what help make Indiana so special. After all, “in 49 states it’s just basketball. But this is Indiana.” When big events need a host, they often come calling to Indianapolis.

Why you may ask? Well the reasons are numerous. Indy first of all has the two best sports venues in the United States in Conseco Fieldhouse and Lucas Oil Stadium. Both are highly rated and each are very modern. Second, the community is attracted to these festivities and the support is astounding. Each year the Indiana Sports Corporation and others have too many volunteers than they know what to do with. It’s Hoosier Hospitality at its finest.

There are countless other reasons why big events and conventions are attracted to Indianapolis: everything is within a 15 minute walk so cabs aren’t necessary and anything one could need is downtown whether it be restaurants, the mall or food. And speaking of good eating, Indy boasts some of the best restaurants, most notably St. Elmos Steakhouse. The J.W. Marriott chose Indianapolis for their largest hotel in the U.S. and have five chain hotels all connected indoors.

Indianapolis knows how to put on a great show—take care of those involved and leave fans begging for more. I guess that’s how the city earned it’s nickname, “the Amateur Sports Capital of the World.”
