ORLANDO, Fla. — As Joe Young met with reporters at the Amway Center following a strong showing in Game 1 of Summer League, he had something new around his neck. Or at least something I had never seen before.
One day into free agency, after nearly $2 billion — yes, ‘B’ as in billion — was committed, Young wore a gold necklace with two $100 bills, as seen below.
Does it have a significant meaning, I asked him.
“No,” he said smiling.
“I mean, congrats to everybody yesterday. It was an amazing day. When I seen that, I started wearing my chain a little bit. Congrats to everybody on their success and their contracts.”
Good timing by Joe. Gotta love his sense of humor.
