This weekend is not only homecoming, but also kicks off the season for the Indiana men’s and women’s basketball programs. Hoosier Hysteria takes place Friday evening—in what has become an annual tradition at Indiana.
This year I have the special pleasure of broadcasting the night on the BigTenNetwork.com live stream. Fans from around the state that cannot make it down or Hoosier faithful around the world can tune in to the festivities.
A couple weeks ago I joined Don Fischer on the IU Radio Network for the Akron game, and now I’m making my debut on the BigTenNetwork.com.
For those coming down to Bloomington for the season tip-off, the doors will open at 6 PM, with an autograph session scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
The festivities should get underway around 8:15 PM. There will be various events including team introductions (both men’s and women’s), a dunk contest, a three-point contest and the night will conclude with an intersquad scrimmage.
Admission is free, but fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit Hoosier Hills Food Bank.
3rd year head coach Tom Crean has been very adamant about welcoming back former players and getting them involved. This tradition-rich program is known for not only producing top-notch athletes but also quality men.
This year, a number of former IU men’s basketball greats will join in including Damon Bailey, Archie Dees, Brian Evans, Matt Nover, Wayne Radford, Jimmy Rayl, and Landon Turner.
This will be another stepping stone in my young career. I will also broadcast the IU women’s field hockey game Sunday against Villanova at noon for the BTN’s web stream.
