After working out for the Chicago Bulls, Dillon Brooks’ second pre-draft workout was with the Pacers on Wednesday. This was his second year of going through the process, which he compared to a job interview.
When I asked him what questions he wanted answered on these visits, he said “I’m wondering if they’re going to draft me.”
I butted in: “Do you think you’ll get an answer?”
“Never. They got to keep it secret.”
Brooks, who got some advice beforehand from Joe Young, his former teammate at the University of Oregon, is a 6-foot-6 forward who led the Ducks in scoring in each of the last two years. This past year, the Ducks reached the National Semi-Final, losing to UNC, the eventual champions, by one point.
Brooks averaged 16.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists this past year while shooting 48.8 percent from the field. He called his decision to forego his final season in Eugene to turn pro a “no-brainer.”
