Pacers head coach Frank Vogel flew down to Texas this week to visit and catch up with two of his players. Ian Mahinmi and George Hill annually spend much of their summers down in San Antonio. Both Mahinmi and Hill began their NBA careers in the Lone Star State with the Spurs.

The two Pacers have been training together in San Antonio since August, even working with their former teammate, Tim Duncan, the sure-thing Hall of Famer.
This summer, Pacers President Larry Bird said four to eight players have been at Bankers Life Fieldhouse every day to work out. Hill was one of those until mid-July, when he flew to China for his annual tour with PEAKSports, and then returned to San Antonio.
It’s not unusual for a member of the Pacers to fly around to visit with players in the offseason. Typically, though, it’s members of the training staff. Each summer, the training staff flies around the country to visit with every single player … to make sure their offseason training is going smoothly, answer any questions, and maintain a strong relationship.
Pacers players report to Indy in less than four weeks. Training camp commences in exactly 29 days…
The Pacers open the regular season in Toronto on Oct. 28.
