With any team, business, or organization, there’s always the team beyond the team.
You know, the ones who offer suggestions, help with the little things and simply want what’s best for the organization. They are concerned with the image of the organization and how they look to outsiders.
Krissy Myers, the Senior Public Information Manager of the Pacers, fits that description. She’s a lifer — so far, at least — with the Indiana Pacers. She joined the organization as an intern while a student at IUPUI, and later joined the organization in a full-time role.
In her current role, she assists media in covering the team, writes and designs the media guide, writes and emails out press releases, and helps Pacers players and coaches in their interaction with the media. One of her success stories is the work she did with ex-Pacer Lance Stephenson, who was a teenager when the team drafted him in 2010 and had a difficult time in interview settings.
The Pacers’ public relations staff is two-time winners (2010-11, 2012-13) of the annual Brian McIntyre Award, which is presented each season to an NBA public relations staff that exemplifies the standards of professionalism and excellence worthy of acclaim.
WISH-TV’s Amanda Maynard recently profiled her for Maynard’s ‘Indy Trailblazer’ series on women who are making an impact in the Indy sports scene.
