Indiana Pacers first-round pick Myles Turner has signed his first NBA contract, the team announced Monday.
The first two years are guaranteed for first-round picks, with Turner, the Pacers’ selection at No. 11, earning about $1.96 million in year one, as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Indiana has team options for years three and four.

Turner, who’ll wear No. 33, played in three Summer League games down in Orlando last week and he quickly impressed those watching. Teammate Joe Young was the top-scoring player (22.5ppg) and Turner was third. The 19-year-old center out of the University of Texas averaged 18.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.3 rebounds per game.

“It was good to get my feet wet,” Turner said of his Summer League showing at Paul George’s camp over the weekend.” That was the biggest thing. I wanted to go out there and compete, show what I was capable of, and just play hard.”
The Pacers’ frontcourt has changed drastically over the last month. Roy Hibbert, David West, and Luis Scola are all gone, and the center position is very much up for grabs. Ian Mahinmi, Lavoy Allen, Jordan Hill and Turner will all compete for minutes.
“They just told me I have to be ready when my number is called,” said Turner. “I just have to go out there and compete. That’s really the biggest thing at this next level. If you can compete, I feel like you’ll be good.”
Turner planned to fly home to Bedford, Texas on Monday.
