It won’t be difficult for basketball fans to spot the Pacers … they’ll be in their gold uniforms for every game in the first round of the 2018 NBA Playoffs.
Nike, which took over from Adidas as the official uniform and apparel provider in June, 2017, introduced Statement Edition uniforms for all 30 teams in a splashy announcement in September. According to Nike, “The Statement Edition uniform sets the tone for big games or rivalries and is inspired by the team’s desire to make a bold statement every time they step on the court.”
Rather than shuffling between their five new uniforms for this season — Association (white), Icon (Blue), Statement (Gold) Classic (Hickory), City (Indy 500) — the Pacers will simply be outfitted in gold.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, meanwhile, will wear their black Statement Edition uniforms for home games and their wine-colored Icon uniforms in Indy.
Here’s the video the Pacers created to push the message: Get Your Gold On.
As the Cavaliers sport their black uniforms on the court, all fans in attendance at Quicken Loans Arena for Game 1 Sunday afternoon will have a black t-shirt on their seat with their playoff slogan, “Whatever it Takes.”
It’s almost time for #CavsPacers, Cleveland!
