Paul George: ‘I missed a year. I got a lot of baskets to catch up to’

Paul George is having an outstanding season after missing all but six games during the 2014-15 season due to a compound fracture in his right leg.

George has reached double figures in all 12 games and scored over 30 points in three games, including Wednesday’s 112-85 win in Philadelphia.

The two-time NBA All-Star has scored at least 26 points in eight consecutive games – a franchise record held by Billy Knight (10) — and he has recorded five double-doubles thus far. After the Pacers’ 0-3 start, they have since won seven of nine games and are in the top eight of the Eastern Conference standings. (Those last two losses, by a combined five points, were to the top two teams in the East: Cleveland and Chicago.)

George has looked comfortable on the floor and is playing with supreme confidence.

“I feel great, feel great,” he told FOX Sports Indiana’s Jeremiah Johnson, as seen in the video above, after their win in Philly. “Doing what I’m loving, back to playing ball. There’s nothing that feels that hole. I missed a year. I got a lot of baskets to catch up to.”

George is tied for seventh in scoring league-wide with Portland’s Damian Lillard at 25.3 points per game.

The Pacers host the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night and then are on the road for five of their next six games, which includes their first trip out West this season.
