They’re good friends. They’re neighbors, sometimes opting to carpool into work.
They were teammates for the last five seasons. They had the two middle lockers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse with space separating the two stalls.
They both have “George” in their name. And they were owners of the Pacers G2 Zone.
But that is no more after Pacers President Larry Bird agreed to a deal Wednesday that brought point guard Jeff Teague back to his hometown and sent George Hill to Utah, part of a three-team transaction.
On Thursday, Paul George, the longest-tenured Pacer, reacted to the news with multiple posts on Instagram.
“To one of the best teammates/brother a youngin like me could ask for.. We created a bond you can’t break!! Love you bro … For life!”
Hill has been in San Antonio for much of the summer while George has been all over the world and beginning next month, will be tied up with USA Basketball activities. Surely those two will try to throw a line out together on Geist Reservoir, for old times sake.
Mahinmi, one of Hill’s closest friend, later posted a photo and message of his own.
