Paul George’s bank account has taken another hit. The Pacers’ wing has been fined $10,000 by the NBA “for contributing to the altercation” with Marcus Morris at the end of the Pacers’ 94-82 win Saturday night over the Detroit Pistons.
Marcus Morris, who first shoved George, was docked $15,000 for the shove (as seen in the video above). George, who finished with 32 points and a season-high 14 rebounds, talked about the incident after the game.
“It’s just competition,” he said. “I know the Morris brothers. Good dudes. It was in the heat of the moment, playing hard. You’re going to have moments like that.”
Thus far this season, George has been fined $68,000.
- $10,000 for public criticism of officials after the season opener at Toronto
- $35,000 for public criticism of officials AND profanity on a live television broadcast
- $10,000 for this altercation
- $13,000 for six technicals
The fines go to charity and are tax deductible. George, who makes a team-high $17,120,106 this season, grosses over $208,000 per regular season game this season.
In the win over Detroit to move the Pacers to 19-14, George had a terrific fourth quarter — hitting all seven of his field goals and scoring the Pacers’ final 21 points.
The Pacers are on the road for nine of their next 11 games, including the next four games down south (Miami, Orlando, New Orleans, and Houston).
