The schedule worked out nicely for the 19-year-old, as his Texas Longhorns played up in South Bend at the University of Notre Dame in week one (but it was a bad, bad loss). This past week, Turner traveled back to Austin, where he played just one season for UT, to catch the Longhorns’ 42-28 win over Rice — and do so with other notable players.

My first thought when I saw the photo above was that there were two Pacers — one former player (T.J. Ford) with Turner, the future. That’s pretty cool. Ford played in 162 career games with the Pacers while with the team for three seasons (2008-11).
Also in the photo: Tristan Thompson (Cleveland Cavaliers) and 2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder). All former UT players, uniting in Austin to support their school.
Turner and the rest of the players in the NBA have less than two weeks of summer vacation remaining until media day (Sept. 28) and the start of training camp (Sept. 29).
Since being selected by the Pacers, Turner has been active in the Indy community. He helped out at a hospital telethon – even donating $3,000 – and he threw out – no, launched! – a ceremonial pitch at a recent Indy Indians game.
