Peyton Manning has set so many records in his 13 years in the NFL…and many more to come.
Just this year, the NFL’s only 4-time MVP improved his own records while setting some others.
- With 208 Consecutive starts, NFL’s longest active streak and longest in league history to start a career for any position.
- An NFL record 450 completions in a season.
- Became the only QB in history with three 4,500-yard seasons
- 45 fourth-quarter/overtime game-winning drives.
- 11 seasons of at least 10 wins.
- and many more to come…
- What makes Manning so special is the time and effort he puts into each game.
- The Colts host the New York Jets in the divisional round of the 2011 playoffs.
- Today, the outspoken Rex Ryan assessed Manning.
- “There’s nobody like this guy in the league. Nobody studies like him. I know Brady thinks he does. I think there’s probably a little more help with Belichick with Brady than there is with Peyton Manning.”
- Coach Ryan went on to say Manning is more than just a coach on the field because he calls his own plays.
- ”He’s not just a coach on the field. You give the coaching community too much credit. This guy is one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the game, and he’s one of the smartest guys. And it’s not just a coach dialing up plays. He dials his own plays.“
Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson recalled filming a recent commercial with Manning. He told the NY Daily News that after filming, they both desired to work out. Manning called plays and routes to LT who executed them. And at that moment, Tomlinson understood why Manning was so good.
“To him, it’s always game situations and that’s the way he treated it. It wasn’t just like he was throwing the ball around…It was nobody but us out there. Empty field. That’s what separates him.”
Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy, who guided the ship for seven years before retiring in 2008, provides his input as to what allows number-18 to standout.
And straight from the source, here’s how Manning describes his preparations.
We are so fortunate to have him.
I loved hearing Tony Dungy’s comments. man I wish he was still around.
With 18, the Colts always have a chance. C-O-L-T-S Colts Colts Colts
There’s no one like him 🙂
Rex’s upcoming business trip
will end in deFEET!
You want honesty?
I think Rex Ryan is an arrogant, foul-mouthed, self-promoting, blowhard jerk and it is a sad commentary on our society that so many “love” his behavior. We need *less* of his ilk and more coaches like Dungy and players like Barry Sanders.
Peyton’s 5-0 against Rex…In 18 we trust.
