Rookie Rakeem Christmas was named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played from Monday, Nov. 30 – Sunday, Dec. 6, the league announced on Monday.
Christmas, who was drafted 36th overall by Minnesota and shipped to Cleveland and then moved to Indiana for a future second-round pick, has played very well in the D-League. On Sunday, he scored a career-high 30 points on 11-for-15 shooting in a double-digit win.
Christmas, along with second-year big man Shayne Whittington have been in Fort Wayne on assignment with the Mad Ants, who are 7-3.
Over the last week, the forward averaged 24.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game. Through the first 10 games, Christmas is averaging 19.8 points (on 49 percent shooting), 7.4 rebounds and 3.5 blocks (seventh in the D-League), per game.
