Robbie Hummel practices alone, after hours

After Purdue just squeaked by High Point 67-65 at home for their second win of the season, redshirt senior Robbie Hummel went back to work on the court, by himself.

Whoever you root for, how can you not appreciate this photo, taken about two hours after the game ended.

Sometimes, a picture truly is worth a thousand words.

Hummel finished the game with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists in a team-high 38 minutes of action. What clearly frustrated him the most was his 1-4 shooting from the free-throw line.

He had a chance to seal the game with two shots at the line with 15 seconds to play. Hummel missed both and Nick Barbour of High Point got a game-winning shot off, though it was off the mark.

As a team, the Boilermakers shot 6-19 (32%) from the charity line. Ryne Smith led Purdue with a career-high 26 points.

I know he’s not the only play at Purdue or anywhere else to do this, it’s just rare that someone caught him in the moment. I like the passion, leadership and initiative by the veteran. So early into the season, the little things are bothering Hummel and he is being proactive.
