One of the more enjoyable fundraisers will continue this summer. The fourth annual Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge presented by The Tony Stewart Foundation will go down Thurs., June 7th at Victory Field.
Last year was a lot of fun and I expect more of the same this year. Again, the challenge will be hosted by Pacers’ center Roy Hibbert and Colts’ defensive end Robert Mathis. Both care a lot about the event and put effort into making it successful.
In 2011, over 40 celebrities were on hand including: Peyton Manning, Dwight Freeney, Pat McAfee, Eric Foster, Jamie Silva, Antoine Bethea, Jeff Foster, Paul George, Lance Stephenson, Josh McRoberts, Shyra Ely, Katie Douglas, Matt Howard and local media.
More about the softball challenge:
This fourth annual event is a 7-inning celebrity softball game between players of the major professional sports teams in Indiana along with mascots, media personalities and other Indiana sports personalities. It has become a Memorial game to celebrate the life of Caroline Symmes’, one of our precious Wish children, who was involved in making this event possible. Taking place in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, fans will have the opportunity to witness their favorite hometown Superstars battle it out on the softball field.
With 8,000 expected attendees, it is our hope that this event will continue being a family-oriented Indiana tradition with the potential of helping hundreds of Wish children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Wish kids and fans seldom have the opportunity to see their favorite athletes out of uniform. This event will bring celebrities and the community together in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
