In an effort to get undrafted rookie Shayne Whittington some game action in, the Pacers are utilizing the NBA’s Developmental League for the third straight year.
“Just looking for opportunities to keep him sharp and keeping him improving,” coach Frank Vogel said Thursday.
Whittington headed up north to Fort Wayne to join the Pacers’ D-League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Over the last 22 games, he’s seen the court just four times and for 12 minutes total. Through 47 games, Whittington has checked into 13 (27.6 percent) of, so this is a perfect opportunity for him to get back after it and work on his game.
“Excited for my opportunity with the Mad Ants! It’ll be great to get back on the court!” Whittington wrote on in Instagram post.
He’ll make his D-League debut Thursday (Jan. 29) against Iowa at 7 pm ET, then again on Jan. 31 at Maine.
All games can be viewed on YouTube.
