Hall of Famer Slick Leonard is still in a local hospital with a leg injury after he took a “nasty tumble” on the ice over the weekend. The longtime analyst on the Pacers Radio Network has missed the last two game broadcasts and is expected to be out at least through the end of the week.
Mark Boyle, in his 30th season as the Radio Voice of the Pacers, has generously provided several updates and intends to provide more in the coming days.
The latest update was shared on Twitter at halftime of the Pacers’ dominant win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.
From Boyle: “Spoke with Slick this afternoon. Still in the hospital, in pain but in good spirits, with a lot of visitors in and out and a number of phone calls, too, lifting his spirits. Still hoping to go home soon.”
According to Boyle, Slick is appropriately in room B529 (as seen below) — the same number of wins he had as Pacers head coach from 1968-1980. He’s the winningest coach in franchise history.
Please take a minute and send a good thought to the Hall of Famer, Slick Leonard. My man took a nasty tumble on the ice & is out with a leg injury. He'll be missed on the homestead, but he'll be back as soon as possible. It's never the same when he's not in the mix.

Spoke to Slick. Though in pain, he’s tougher than the rest of us put together and is in relatively good spirits. Good news: surgery will not be needed and he should be home sooner rather than later. Please keep sending good thoughts.

Saw Slick this afternoon. Still in the hospital, still hoping to go home before week's end, still holding court and receiving visitors, and still taking calls. Status quo; his world, we're just visiting.

Leonard is in his 32nd season on the Pacers Radio Network. He provides color commentary beside Boyle for all home games.
