Pacers guard Rodney Stuckey will not play Wednesday night in Boston because of a sore right foot, FOX Sports Indiana’s Jeremiah Johnson tweeted.
Stuckey was limited to just 4 minutes and 26 minutes of action Tuesday night in the Pacers’ (22-16) win over the Phoenix Suns. There didn’t appear to be a sequence on the floor during the first quarter where he re-aggrevated the injury. He went back to the locker room and did not return to the bench.
Rodney Stuckey has been bothered by his right foot/ankle most of the season.
After the game, I asked coach Frank Vogel how concerned he was with Stuckey’s ankle, which has been an ongoing issue.
“It’s a concern,” Vogel replied. “He’s just battling some soreness and we’ll see how he feels tomorrow night.”
Apparently Stuckey wasn’t up to playing on Wednesday. The team did not hold a morning shootaround because the played the previous night. Stuckey did not have a noticeable limp as I saw him exit the locker room Tuesday evening.
Tonight’s game in Boston (19-19), where the Pacers will be wearing their Hickory uniforms, will be Stuckey’s sixth absence of the season. He missed five games in November due to a sprained right ankle. The team went 3-2 over that 10-day stretch.
The Celtics have lost six of their last seven games, including four in a row. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN with Mike Breen and Hubie Brown on the call. As always, the game will air with the usual local trio on FOX Sports Indiana.
The Pacers are back at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday against the Washington Wizards.
