Pacers 2016 second-round pick Georges Niang was waived by the team Friday, league sources told VigilantSports.com. His contract, which would’ve become guaranteed if not waived by July 15, called for him to earn $1.3 million for the 2017-18 season.
Niang, however, does have $100,000 in contract guarantees. That was part of the three-year pact he signed one year ago after being selected 50th overall out of Iowa State.
Niang suffered a bone bruise 87 seconds into the Orlando Summer League. That hurt Niang, who appeared in 23 games during his rookie season and just five minutes after January.

The Pacers’ roster stands at 14, including the acquisition of point guard Cory Joseph from Toronto on Friday.
Pacers President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard said last week that the team is “still evaluating” Kevin Seraphin, whose contract becomes guaranteed if not waived by August 1.
