Another episode of my weekly radio show is complete and I believe it’s turning into something very special. Last week, the first show of the year, was difficult because I was not yet comfortable with my layout, what I wanted to talk about, taking calls and of course building chemistry with my producer.
The program is called “The Sunday Night Conversation,” and is on every Sunday from 8-9 pm EST. It can be heard of 99.1 in Bloomington, IN or online anywhere at WIUX.org.
Hosting a sports talk show is a lot of fun because there is always so much to talk about. Tonight, I didn’t even get to three of my prepared ideas, but that’s great. We were moving, topics were brought up and went on because of good discussion.
We were very heavy on Indiana football as usual, and their tough home loss to Illinois. I’m still frustrated with the quarterback carousel and wish they’d figured it out, sticking with either Dusty Kiel or Tre Roberson. The Colts remain winless and are showing just how important Peyton Manning is. Plus there are surprise teams like Detroit and Buffalo. And we ended the show with some Indiana basketball talk because the season begins Saturday with Hoosier Hysteria.
This show will continue to grow as weeks go on. I am very comfortable in the host position, moving things along and ensuring things don’t get too stale. There are things I need to work on like better communicating my thoughts, not getting hung up, asking more of my producer Austin Miller.
On this show, I was pleased to have Chris, Dan and ChronicHoosier call-in, ask questions and let their thoughts be known. This show is a communication tool and I have a true appreciation for listening to others opinion.
My guest for this show was Eddie White, who worked in the NFL for over 20 years and is the most connected person I know. He has become a very good friend of mine and I was happy to hear his perspective on many NFL issues like the passing of Raiders owner Al Davis, the firing of Hank Williams Jr, Peyton Manning’s influence on the Colts and Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
Eddie was fun, humorous and informative…take a listen below.
