I was going through the NBA’s rule book and came across something that may surprise sports fans.
A rim on a basket is referred to as a “ring” in the NBA’s Official Rule Book. Presidential candidate Ted Cruz, who has since suspended his campaign after Indiana’s primary on Tuesday, was blasted around Central Indiana (and the country) for calling it a basket ring during a recent stop at the Hoosier Gym here in Indiana.

“The amazing thing is that basketball ring, here in Indiana, it’s the same height as it is New York City and every other place in this country,” Cruz said.
Most may call it a rim or hoop, but Cruz was accurate. (Note: I pasted the following sections together for the purposes of easy reading.)
