Thoughtful response to follower request by ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt

Twitter has completely changed the way we operate today, especially with sports. The sports experience is enhanced with the use of twitter, giving everyone a voice and a platform. Anybody can tweet anywhere, anytime. And it also gives us access to high-profile types.

The most annoying tweets, I believe, are requests. Requests for retweets, retweets for birthdays and follower requests.

The bigger the name, the more requests sent their way. Some people just don’t understand how to use twitter. Some, have even suggested that the requests have replaced the autograph.

ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt replied to a follow request and I really liked it. Most, rightfully so, don’t even reply to these bogus tweets. Van Pelt answered one student with a brilliant take.

Twitter can be a terrific medium to share information, connect with others and build a brand. Don’t get too caught up with your follower count or who specifically follows you. If you bring quality stuff, people will find you.
