George Hill does so much work in the community. Much of it is covered by the local media, but so many things are behind the scenes. That’s how the Indianapolis native prefers it.
Last year, before Christmas, he randomly decided go shopping and fill his truck full of toys. Then, with former teammate Rasual Butler’s help, Hill drove back to his childhood neighborhood (near 34th Street), and gave items away off the back of the truck.
Well this year, Hill teamed up with Wish for Our Heroes, a group he cares deeply about that helps military members and their families. Saturday evening, they help to make Christmas extra special for four deserving military families in what has been dubbed the inaugural “George Hill Holiday Wish Patrol.”
As seen in the video above, each member of the Wish Patrol, which also included Pacers rookies Damjan Rudež and Shayne Whittington, handed the family a gift. They also spread the holiday spirit by singing Christmas Carols.
Also, it appears Rudež has the song, “Fancy,” stuck in his head from October. He was instructed to sing the Iggy Azaleawhich song at the Pacers annual FanJam, as part of rookie duties, and he did an excellent job for a foreigner who had never heard the song until just a few days prior. (He starts singing at 1:45.)
