Indianapolis is determined and committed to put on a Super Bowl to remember.
The hosts of Super Bowl XLVI are ensuring that the experience is one that will leave an impression on visitors. They’ve hosted Final Fours, the Big Ten Basketball Tournament, thousands of conventions and the largest single-day sporting event, the Indianapolis 500.
Hoosier Hospitality is second to none and Indy is pulling out all tricks to make it a special Super Bowl. The Indy Super Bowl committee has thousands more volunteers than requested because so many Hoosiers want to lend support. In addition to the community, local businesses have been very welcoming and helpful.
The Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association created the Indy Super Bowl Shuffle highlighting downtown hotels and why Super Bowl Indy-style will be unmatched. Inspired of course by the 1985 Chicago Bears Super Bowl Shuffle.
UPDATE: After being linked all over the Internet for one day, the ICVA deleted the video. Here’s the reason why from the IndyStar’s Erika Smith.
ICVA spokesman Chris Gahl said the meeting planners’ response to the video was phenomenal, and at least one planner of a possible $40 million convention who would not have checked out Indy before now is coming to do just that. (There’s obviously no accounting for taste.)
“It was part of a larger campaign to get meeting planners to our booth in a convention trade show, where planners will be shopping for a city to hold their next convention,” Gahl said. “Chicago residents fondly remember the ‘Super Bowl Shuffle’ performed by the Bears.”
Although a bit cheesy, it was well done and very funny.
[Unfortunately, the video was taken down.]
How is this video so offensive? Why was it pulled? Too many people in Indy taking themselves to serious!
I agree. They are having fun, trying to be creative for a Chicago audience. I thought they made the best of it and everyone was good sports. I respect the willingness of those in the video to run with the idea and make the most of it. Have fun, and that’s what they did. The backlash is unreasonable.
