VIDEO: One-on-one with Rodney Stuckey after he re-signed with the Pacers

More than two weeks after reaching an agreement to remain with the Indiana Pacers, Rodney Stuckey signed his new contract Tuesday afternoon to make it official.

Stuckey was pleased to re-sign with the Pacers for another three years.

Stuckey was pleased to re-sign with the Pacers for another three years.

Stuckey, who rejuvenated his career in Indy last year on a one-year deal for the veteran’s minimum, was pleased with his 2014-15 season and how it led to a new deal to stay with the team. Stuckey inked a three-year deal worth $21 million and includes a player option in the final year.

“I felt all along it was important to re-sign Rodney,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird in a statement. “He proved to us last year how much he could help. He’s a pro and a good teammate. We’re really happy to have him back. He added a lot to our team, on and off the court.”

Part of the delay was on his own accord. Stuckey tied the knot this past Friday outside his hometown of Seattle with his now-wife, Heidi.

Stuckey, 29, received serious interest from about four teams, according to a source, but he was set on staying in the same situation, one he was very comfortable in.

He plans — and hopes — to remain in his role as the sixth man. As the first player off the bench, he can provide energy and a scoring punch while also helping to push the second unit. The Pacers have added five new pieces, including two intriguing draft picks in Myles Turner and the mighty Joe Young.

“It’s going to be a fun year, man,” Stuckey said with a big smile. “I think we’re all excited for it.”
