Despite Indiana not having much team success this past week down at the Orlando Summer League, their draft picks were two standouts. The team won just one of its five games and finished in ninth place.
Myles Turner and Joe Young were impressive in every one of their showings. Turner was a force in the paint, keeping the rim protected. On the offensive end, he worked some on the block, nailed mid-range jumpers, and sank 80 percent of his foul shots.
The NBA did not name an All-League at the end of the tournament, like in previous years, but there’s no doubt these two would have made the team. And Young, a 6-2 guard who loves to get buckets, surely would have been named “Most Outstanding Player.”

Young, who the Pacers snatched at 43, led all scorers with 22.5 points per game. Turner, meanwhile, appeared in three games and averaged 18.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The two of them landed back in Indianapolis around midnight on Friday and then hung out with Paul George. The following day, the rookies helped George at his basketball camp.
Very generous with their time, both Turner and Young spoke with the media between stations.
