Steve McClain, the former Indiana basketball assistant who’s now head coach of the University of Chicago Flames, had a special afternoon in The Windy City Friday.
McClain was invited by the Chicago Cubs to throw out the ceremonial first pitch as well as to help lead the crowd in singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the 7th Inning Stretch. I was at the game, sitting in the Bleacher seats for the first time, and I recorded video of McClain singing from the booth.
Here’s the video UIC produced from coach’s day at Wrigley:
The Cubs ended up winning the game, which took over five hours to complete, 11-10 in the bottom of the 12th. Despite the game dragging on, in part because of the Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates combining to score 21 runs, it was Friday afternoon and a beautiful day to be hanging out at the park.
