Larry Bird turned 60 years old on Wednesday.
A day later, the NBA shared a collection of highlights showcasing the game of the three-time NBA Champion, three-time MVP, and 12-time All-Star — which can be seen above.
This is a spectacular nine-minute highlight reel. It’s particularly fun for my generation, those who don’t remember seeing 33 play.
I like point guards and I appreciate unselfishness a creative use of the pass, and more importantly, the right pass. I have seen partial games on NBA TV and the numbers show he could score and would absolutely outwork the opponent. In watching this, you’ll also gain an appreciation for his court vision, smart passes, and ability to keep plays alive.
And how about the reaction of players on the other team. When he’s pouring it on, they can’t help but be impressed. (Especially when he dropped 60 points on the Hawks.)
Meantime, it was also pretty special to see all of his teams honor him … by winning on his 60th.
It was highlighted by the Indiana State Sycamores upsetting undefeated and No. 15 Butler at the Hulman Center, 72-71. The Boston Celtics disposed of the Orlando Magic, 117-87. And, the Pacers moved back to .500 with a 109-94 win in Phoenix.
