2010 was another impeccable year. Not a lot to complain about. I had some tremendous experiences, and I learned a lot about myself, and my future aspirations along the way.
-I continue to work for the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever in my ninth year. I have really enjoyed the up close and personal encounter with both the NBA and WNBA. Fortunately, I have learned so much from the jobs but that’s another blog for another time. The biggest things I have gotten in my time at Conseco Fieldhouse include great friends and contacts, an amazing experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything, and I am no longer “wow’d” by celebrities. They’re just people that do something extraordinary.
-In May I launched the VigilantSports.com domain and new format. And we will continue to grow.
-Last summer I interned at WISH-TV, the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis. I really enjoyed the experiences and jobs I was given. The most interesting part came in May where I basically lived at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with all-access.
-I also had a great time on a family cruise to Alaska in July. It’s not very easy to get all six of us together including three sisters who live in three different states.
-This fall I made my debut on the IU Radio Network with one of my mentor’s, Don Fischer. I filled in for Joe Smith as the pre-game, halftime, and post-game host. It was a dream come true to be on the IU Radio Network and to share the booth with Don Fischer.
-Also this last semester, I called field hockey, soccer, and women’s basketball on the BigTenNetwork.com. My pair of basketball games even made their way onto the linear network for all subscribers to see. Hopefully they are the first of many national broadcasts to come. In addition to BTN.com, I broadcasted soccer and a volleyball game on Indiana University’s athletics website, IUHoosiers.com.
–To close the year, I went out west to Las Vegas with the IU basketball team as they competed in the IBN Las Vegas Classic. Although the Hoosiers went bust in Vegas, I did not. I won some money, had a good time at the games (even won a FlipVideo camera and polo), and went to a pair of shows.
-Finally I can’t forget about all the people I met along the way. That’s one of best parts. After all, it’s not only about what you can do, but who knows you and who likes you.
Hats of to a great 2010, and an even better 2011.
