Indy gets social for Super Bowl XLVI

I used to think that Klout was a sham. Not anymore.

If you’re into social media at all, you’ve heard of Klout. Some people swear by it. Others think it’s all fluff.  I fell somewhere in between.

If you’re not familiar with Klout, it’s basically an online service that measures your influence from your social networks and summarizes your performance into a single numerical score. …

What the Colts are looking for in a head coach

After a 2-14 season, changes at the Colts practice facility on West 56th Street are inevitable.

Owner Jim Irsay and new General Manager Ryan Grigson are now searching for the next head coach. Grigson will have a lot of input, but it’s clear Irsay, as usual, will have the final say.

While announcing the firing of Jim Caldwell, Grigson discussed what the team is seeking …

Where things went wrong for the Pacers in Sacramento

The Pacers hit the road this week for a three-game west coast trip. Sacramento, Golden State, and Los Angeles (Lakers).

Wednesday night, the blue and gold opened in Sacramento at the Power Balance Pavillion (whatever happened to Arco Arena) and despite winning each of the first three quarters, they collapsed down the stretched.

Kings 92, Pacers 88.

Indiana (9-4) had a 80-66 lead at the …

A twitter circus during a busy Colts offseason

Rob Lowe blew up twitter today with this post:

“Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts”

Lowe is a Hollywood actor, currently on Parks and Recreation, among others. He’s also a good friend of Jim Irsay (pictured together) and Peyton Manning.

This isn’t the first twitter story concerning the Colts. Over the weekend, a couple Indianapolis media members reported …

Jim Caldwell fired as Colts head coach

The second big move for Colts owner Jim Irsay has been made. After three seasons as head coach, Jim Caldwell has been fired.

“This was a difficult decision, based on the feeling that this was a direction the franchise needed to go,” Irsay said.

First, Jim Irsay fired Bill and Chris Polian.

Then, he hired a young and hard-working Ryan Grigson as general manager.

Grigson …

The Gunner Kiel Saga

Is it over yet? I’ll wait until I actually see the top-rated 2012 high school quarterback takes a snap in a game.

Gunner Kiel (6-4, 220), one of the most coveted high school football players in the country, has committed to his third different college. Notre Dame announced Tuesday that Kiel had signed his scholarship and was enrolled in classes.

“This recruitment process was a …

Archie Manning: Peyton’s ‘just trying to get healthy’

It’s a busy offseason for Indianapolis Colts management, who have so many critical decisions to be made.

First, Jim Irsay fired Bill and Chris Polian. This week, alongside new GM Ryan Grigson, Irsay will have to decide whether to retain head coach Jim Caldwell or go in a new direction.

The third big decision — is Peyton Manning healthy and you give him his $28M …

Hoosiers lack necessary edge, lose 77-74 at home to Minnesota

They were due. A team that had defied the odds, knocked off a No. 1 and No. 2 in the same season, and off to the best start in the Tom Crean era finally hit a big bump in the road.

It’s not surprising that No. 7 Indiana took a Mbakwe-less Minnesota Gophers team lightly, weren’t locked-in and were maybe more focused on Will Sheehey’s …
