A twitter circus during a busy Colts offseason

Rob Lowe blew up twitter today with this post:

“Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts”

Lowe is a Hollywood actor, currently on Parks and Recreation, among others. He’s also a good friend of Jim Irsay (pictured together) and Peyton Manning.

This isn’t the first twitter story concerning the Colts. Over the weekend, a couple Indianapolis media members reported that Jim Caldwell would be retained as head coach. Of course, that was not the case, announced by Jim Irsay and new General Manager Ryan Grigson Tuesday.

On twitter.

The Colts have made sweeping changes this offseason, and I expect many more to come. The first of which, naming a new head coach.

The Colts brass will observe Manning’s health and determine, with doctors, if he can ever play again. If he can, will it be with the Colts? I think he may be done with the horseshoes.

You knew Manning’s status was going to be a big news story, definitely the story of this offseason. He is the face of the Colts and arguably the NFL, as well.

Nobody knows where Rob Lowe got his information, but his close ties with Irsay suggest he is the source. Archie Manning and Peyton’s agent, Tom Condon, each said they knew nothing of the news.

The Colts have until March 8th to decide on his bonus and by then we will know what Irsay has decided. But this tweet may suggest things don’t look good for Peyton’s health.

In his past two news conference, Mr. Irsay has referenced the 1998 offseason, where he brought in a new GM, head coach and quarterback. Peyton Manning in, Jim Harbaugh out. Irsay has knocked down two pillars and it wouldn’t surprise me if he goes ahead and changes the third.

All this talk, because of a Rob Lowe tweet. Then again, Lowe does now Irsay, very well. And you better believe Colts media and fans were glued to their feed for the next hour waiting on confirmation or a response. Two hours later, Irsay sent this tweet out.

It is worth nothing, that Irsay didn’t deny the content of Lowe’s tweet.
