The Knox Indy Pro Am is prepared for another successful summer-season. One week before a new season begins, the rosters have been released and the full schedule was rolled out late Tuesday.
Games will begin next Tuesday, June 26th and run until August 2nd at The Jungle, IUPUI’s gymnasium. Because collegiate athletes participate, games are free of charge.
This will be the fourth year of the annual Pro Am, founded in 2009 by former IUPUI standout Carlos Knox.
Once again, there are a lot of familiar faces, with talent ranging from incoming college freshman, to NBA guys. Highlights below:
NBA: George Hill, Eric Gordon, DJ White, Mario Chalmers, JaJuan Johnson, E’Twuan Moore, Josh McRoberts, Jeff Teague, Lance Stephenson, Shelvin Mack, Alec Burks, Christian Eyenga, Al Harrington, Daquan Cook, Norris Cole, and Bonzi Wells.
Indiana: No current IU player will take part this year.
Butler: Kyle Marshall, Chrishawn Hopkins, Rotnei Clark.
Purdue: DJ Byrd.
Notable locals: Dominique James, Julian Mavunga, Alex Young, Jake Kelly, David Barlow, Andre Owens, David Logan, Justin Cage, Walter Offutt, David Teague, and Skip Mills.
Particularly with the college guys, don’t expect them at every game. The goal is to have at least a couple of them at the weekly games. Now that coaches have two hours to spend with their team each week, player’s time is influx.
Also, as you can imagine, other players will come and go. Eric Gordon, for example, will be competing for a roster spot on Team USA, hoping to go to London for the 2012 Olympic Games.
St. Vincent Sports Performance, led by Ralph Reiff, is the primary sponsor for the Knox Pro Am. They will be featured on team jerseys and supply a training staff for the games.
