A day out of my summer, for the kids

There’s no feeling like giving back. Every year, I help with the Horizon’s Classic golf outing, benefiting intercity children.

I am proud to be part of the behind-the-scenes group that helps put on the event. There is so much that makes the outing special but what stands out are the people involved.

Helping out those less fortunate is very rewarding because it is our goal to help get equal if not better schooling than we got. This was my fifth year involved in the outing out of the 14 total.

The event is always spectacular and one of a kind (no bias opinion at all, right).

It is quite amazing how local businesses embrace charity events but most specifically, this Horizon’s Classic. Just on the course there was Fogo de Chao, Ruth’s Chris, and P.F. Changs for example. Ritter’s ice cream was all over the place and even a coach tour bus was on hand. This event is hard to put into words because it’s that original.

More than anything, the celebrities and friends that support the organization are outstanding. One man spent $12,000 for a live auction item to join Coach Tony Dungy in New York for a tour of the NBC studios, dinner and Saturday Night Live tickets. Oh my!

Held at the Brickyard Crossings Golf Course, I think everyone had a great time. Sold-out as always, the golf outing was very successful thanks to spectacular support, a beautiful day and golfer’s willingness to open their wallets.

After all, it’s for the kids.
