Indiana is 1-3 heading into Saturday’s Big Ten opener against Penn State and they’re looking for answers.

Dusty Kiel, a Columbus East product, will start his first game for the Hoosiers at quarterback as they begin conference play.

Kiel posted the news on his facebook page writing, “let’s goooooooo!…I’m gettin the start. Get ur painted 8 chests ready to go! Hahaha”

First-year head coach Kevin Wilson has emphasized since last spring that the quarterbacks, Edward Wright-Baker, Dusty Kiel and Tre Roberson, are neck-and-neck. Wright-Baker, a more mobile quarterback, got the nod for the first four games but now IU will give Kiel his first true opportunity.

Wilson previously said that Wright-Baker edged the other two quarterbacks because of his decision making and by not turning the ball over as frequently.

Dusty Kiel has seen action in two games this season, completing 11 of 18 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores came late last week in Indiana’s 24-21 loss at North Texas.

Indiana and Penn State kick-off Saturday at noon on ESPNU.

About time some move was made. Clearly EWB wasn’t getting it done so why not try Kiel or even the freshman Roberson.

Wilson will get it done, mark my words. He’s just trying to get all these middle-of-the-road players out of here. They will win more than one Big Ten game. Write it down.

I suppose this change is for the better. 1-3 is unacceptable, even with a new coach. I do think IU will compete with Penn State and the program’s first win over PSU. Slim chances.
