Eric Gordon out 3-4 weeks with wrist injury

The top scorer for the Los Angeles Clippers will likely be out until after All-Star break the team announced today. Indiana native, Eric Gordon will miss 3-4 weeks with a sprained right wrist.

Gordon sought out multiple opinions on his wrist injury and the MRI returned negative. This is a tough break to the Clippers who are rolling, winning seven of their last nine games. In each of those nine games, he scored at least 23 points.

He was already playing with a torn tendon in his right ring finger. That occurred last Wednesday at home against Minnesota. He was wearing a splint on the finger for protection.

Gordon was examined today by Dr. Steve Chin at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. He was examined previously by Clippers’ team physician/orthopedist Dr. Steven Shimoyama and Dr. Roy A. Meals, a orthopedist specializing in hand-related injuries.
Their joint diagnosis is that Gordon is suffering from a sprained right wrist combined with a small bone chip fracture. He is expected to return to action in three to four weeks.

The North Central grad suffered the wrist injury Saturday during the third quarter of the Clippers 113-109 victory over Golden State. Gordon, in his third professional season, is having his best year yet averaging a team-high 24.1 points per game along with 3.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He currently ranks 8th in the NBA in points per game, 11th in free throws and 12th in field goals made.

He is however, not receiving a lot of credit because of his teammate Blake Griffin, the never ending highlight reel.

Prior to this season, the Clippers picked his 4th-year team option. After the 2011-12 season, expect EJ to be a popular free agent–one that many Indiana fans would love to see in a Pacers uniform.
