No sports drop-off in April – NBA wraps up the regular season, baseball’s back, and The Masters

There’s no let up in the sports world following last weeks NCAA title game. As we moved into April, the action is only getting better.

The NBA is in the back-stretch with about a dozen regular season games remaining. In this shortened lockout season, the playoffs will come during the last week of this month.

Baseball season is now rolling, with opening day(s) midweek. Only 161 games to go…

Even though it’s the offseason, “volunteer” camps began for many teams. The Colts have a new staff and are putting together a whole new team so they are all meeting everyone and getting comfortable. Plus the draft, where they’ll select Andrew Luck No. 1, is three weeks away.

And finally, ‘A tradition unlike any other’.

With the Masters going on now, it’s hard not to be in a good mood. There’s something very special about this annual tournament.

It’s the top tournament, it’s exciting and it’s pure.

In some aspects, it reminds me of Indiana basketball because there have so many things unique to the brand.

IU has candy-stripe pants, the Masters has the green jacket. Both are historic and have their unmatched facilities. And they both are spectacular experiences that leave a mark.

As always, the tournament will be interesting and have plenty of storylines. The weather is the first thought that comes to mind, at least this year. It wiped out most of the enjoyable par 3 challenge on Wednesday and showers came late during the opening round.

Each year, this tournament is my favorite and it certainly gets me in the mood to play again after winter. No way I can watch a weekend of great golf and not touch my clubs.

It’s beautiful and it’s magical. So many of the best golf finishes have come at Augusta National.

I can’t wait to make it down there to see the tournament first hand. For now, I’ll just sit back on my couch and enjoy the coverage.
